ROSI DJ

An overview

Background

Many customers have purchased Autoplus Radio (3.6 and 3.7) for use in pubs, clubs and discos. They have chosen Autoplus because they like the look and feel of the product and accept that they simply won't use some of the radio specific features.

We decided to produce an application which was designed specifically for these users which built on the core performance technology of Autoplus Radio (the audio engine) but whose functionality was purposeful in clubs. Say hello to ROSI DJ.

Features

There are four players which can each be assigned to any available sound card device. Therefore all can play through your laptop sound card or individually be assigned to one of four faders on your mixer/DJ console- or any combination in between. Each player has timers for elapsed and remaining time. A bpm counter and a pitch control allowing the bpm to be increased or decreased. You can pause, stop, eject a player and load the top item direct from the playlist into a player and play it with one button. Players can be used entirely manually or be set to automatically crossfade if running from a playlist. There is a pre-fade button on each player and even a facility to display a picture (e.g. the album cover image).

The Playlist can be manually set up on the fly using drag and drop from the library or Record Box. Alternatively pre-made playlists can be loaded- useful if you want to prepare sets in advance or have regularly used sets (e.g. wedding parties). The playlist can be set to auto mode (e.g. for toilet breaks!) so that music just keeps running from the playlist into the next available player.

The Record Box is the library. Tracks can be sorted by artist, title or duration. There is a fantastic search facility which dynamically lists results as you type. You can also organise tracks into as many categories as you wish.

As in Autoplus Radio, we also have a set of Quick Buttons. You can choose from 20 displayed buttons (each with audio on them) but also select different sets of buttons. You could therefore have a set of 20 called "Openers", 20 more "First dance", more called "End of evening" etc. This is another useful way of sorting music. Whenever you hit a Quick Button, it loads and plays in one designated player (number 4 by default).  You can also drag and drop from a Quick Button to the playlist or any of the players.

To make operation even easier, especially in a confined space we have the RITA4DJ keyboard which replicates all of the core buttons into a compact keyboard which can also have an optional trackball or mousepad. They keyboard is available in either PS2 or USB versions.

Behind the scenes is DJ Manager. This is where all music is setup- you can import mp3s, rip from CDs, name tracks and artists, set categories etc. This is a separate application and so can be held away from the DJ console if you want to avoid people fiddling with the music.

We also have a limited version of Autoplus DJ called Home Edition, with just 2 players and restrictions on the playlist and quick buttons. Naturally this is a lower cost option.

All of the on screen colours can be customised. Available in English, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Spanish, Portugese or German languages.

ROSI DJ can be supplied with either a soft licence (code) or a USB hardware dongle. ROSI DJ is compatable with Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista*.
